The Jolly Sportsman

The Jolly Sportsman is situated on a quiet, no-through lane in rural East Chiltington, Sussex by the South Downs, 20 mins from Brighton. Since 1998 it has been run by Bruce Wass who was the Chef / Proprietor of the highly acclaimed Thackerays House restaurant in Tunbridge Wells.

Bruce is back in the kitchen with Anthony Masters our new Head chef who joins us from Drakes of Brighton. Emily Pyle and Gemma Puttick are Restaurant Managers. the aim is to serve good reliably sourced food in a relaxed setting where you can enjoy a bar snack and a pint of local ale or a three course meal with fine wine from our very extensive list.

We concentrate on wines which range from simple but excellent Vin de Pays, a selection from the New World, and a good showing from Italy, to top class Burgundy and Bordeaux.BeersWe specialise in beers from Britain's micro breweries and serve our ales directly from the cask. We also have a large selection of bottled beers from Belgium, Germany and the Czech Republic.SpiritsAs well as over 100 Malt Whiskies we have a good range of Cognac, Armagnac, Calvados and Grappa.Soft DrinksWe stock a good selection of pure fruit juices, Fentimans botanicals, fresh squeezed lime soda and lemonade and of course our Jolly Ginger.

The Jolly Sportsman is the ideal place to hold you wedding reception and is available for both small intimate wedding receptions and more elaborate ones. The Pub consists of several areas including, restaurant, front and back bars, patio, front and back garden which can be hired seperately. Our 2 for 1 winter warmers are running untill the end of March. Vouchers available in Viva Lewes or if you pop in for a bite to eat.As always we have our fixed priced lunch & dinner menus, 2 course lunch at £13.50 & 2 course dinner at £19.50Also on offer at the moment is our Jolly Loyalty card.
